Congressman DeSaulnier’s Statement on the Current Status of the Development of the Concord Naval Weapons Station

Walnut Creek, CA – Today, Congressman DeSaulnier (CA-11) issued the following statement on the latest in the development of the Concord Naval Weapons Station.

“Having lived in and represented Concord for over thirty years, I am supportive of a successful project at the former Naval Weapons Station. While I have been engaged on this issue and have been monitoring the process closely, as the federal representative for Concord, U.S House Ethics rules prohibit me from weighing in on decisions that rest solely with the Concord City Council or the City of Concord including, but not limited to, determining how the land is used, negotiations with the developer, and how the Concord City Council should vote on a matter. That said, I will continue to monitor this process as it unfolds and work with the Navy as appropriate to make sure this project is done in a way that protects the residents of Concord and the local community.”
