Swalwell Visits FBI, Pushes for Help in Fighting Organized Retail Crime

SAN FRANCISCO — Today, Congressman Eric Swalwell (CA-15) held a press conference outside the Phillip Burton Federal Building in San Francisco. The press conference comes as Swalwell pushes the FBI to become more involved in assisting with combatting the rise in organized violent retail crime rings that are targeting the Bay Area and communities across the country.

Earlier in the week, Swalwell delivered a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray asking the Bureau to re-prioritize efforts to limit these crimes by working with state and local law enforcement to keep our communities safe.

Ahead of the press conference, Swalwell will meet with San Francisco’s FBI Acting Staff Agent in Charge, Sean Ragan, to get an update on organized retail theft efforts in the region.
