LaMalfa: Biden’s Budget Request Fails to Prioritize American Workers

Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement after President Joe Biden’s Administration released its “skinny” budget request – top-level spending items for each agency and department in the Federal government – to Congressional leadership.

Rep. LaMalfa said, “After spending $6 trillion in emergency COVID spending outside of our actual budget, we need budget discipline, not an acceleration in spending laden with tax increases. A budget that truly prioritized the concerns of the American people would address the Biden-made border crisis, not funnel billions of taxpayer dollars to illegal aliens, boondoggle high speed rail projects, and Green New Deal schemes. As we recover from the pandemic, we must prioritize protecting the interests of American workers and their families over frivolous and irresponsible spending.”

While rarely signed into law, an Administration’s budget request is a top indicator of its spending and policy priorities. According to the Congressional Budget Act of 1974, a President must submit his or her budget request for the upcoming fiscal year to Congress each year.
