(Washington, DC) — Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released $923,696 dollars to health centers in California’s First Congressional District, including Mountain Valleys Health Centers, Karuk Tribe, Shingletown Medical Center, Western Sierra Medical Clinic, Northeastern Rural Health Clinics, Greenville Rancheria, McCloud Healthcare, Sierra Family Medical Clinic, Hill Country Community Clinic, and Shasta Community Health Center. These funds were awarded after Congressman LaMalfa supported the House-passed Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act on March 4th, 2020, which included $100 million for grants to health centers nationwide in response to the coronavirus.
LaMalfa said: “During this trying time, it’s important that our health centers have the resources and flexibility they need to prevent, prepare for, and respond to COVID-19 as it evolves in our area. Availability of testing and lab services are key to limit the spread of this virus, and these grants will help expand access to those in Northern California. Thank you to the Trump Administration for recognizing the need for these funds in our area and getting aid to America’s health centers as quickly as possible.”
